PTE voucher vs direct booking

A voucher, a direct booking and booking assistance describe different parts of the journey. Choose by what you need help with and what each provider actually supplies.

What each route means

Compare responsibilities, not just labels
RouteWhat you arrangeWhat to verify
Direct provider bookingYou select and pay for an available appointment with the exam provider.Exact test, account details, payment and confirmation.
Voucher then self-bookingYou purchase an eligible code and redeem it when booking with the provider.Coverage, expiry, delivery and any remaining amount.
Booking assistanceAn authorised service helps with the permitted booking process.Who supplies the service, what they do, fees and confirmation.

These routes can overlap. For example, a voucher seller may also offer assistance, but buying its code does not automatically mean assistance is included. Read the exact product and service description.

Account control and confirmation

Keep your own email and provider account accessible. Pearson’s booking guidance says an authorised agent should use official systems and should not need direct access to your myPTE login details. Do not treat a request for your password as a routine requirement for support.

Whichever route you choose, check the provider-issued appointment details. A conversation with a seller or a receipt for a voucher is different from an appointment recorded by the provider.

Choose around the task you need completed

Direct booking may suit someone comfortable managing their account and following the provider’s checkout. A voucher route introduces separate questions about the product and supplying seller. Assistance should have a clearly defined scope, such as helping you understand steps or completing a permitted booking arrangement.

Consider how you will get help if something goes wrong. The voucher supplier handles its delivery and product obligations; the exam provider handles its appointment and testing systems. A single seller may coordinate support, but that promise should be explicit.

Compare the complete offer

Use the same test and country when comparing quotes. Include any service fee and any amount still due to the provider. Then compare non-price details: expiry, assistance scope, delivery and response expectations. A lower figure does not establish that the product matches your needs.

Use the cost comparison tool for figures you have verified. Keep price checking separate from verifying a seller’s authority and terms.

Common questions

Is assisted booking the same as a voucher?

No. A voucher is a payment product; assistance is a service whose scope must be stated.
